Arts are integral to learning and they nurture the young to become sensitive and compassionate adults. We need to create opportunities for a variety of arts interventions at different levels.
Children need an inquiry-based learning programme so that they can acquire knowledge, develop skills and build attitudes. Children should be encouraged to take an active part in learning and to use their own initiative so they to develop into independent learners with a strong desire to think critically.
Education should be accessible to one and all, irrespective of differences of gender, socio-economic background, ability, etc.
Communities need to sensitise themselves to respect cultural diversity and secular values. Appreciation of our cultural heritage is important, but awareness about the local culture in the neighbourhood is also as important.
